Workshops

Our workshops are a great way to meet other Habitat volunteers, have your questions answered and meet Habitat staff! They are held at our Prefab Shop (14135 128 Avenue).

BASIC TOOL TRAINING

You will have the opportunity to learn how to properly handle all types of hand and power tools used on Habitat Edmonton build sites.

Workshops cover how to safely use:

  • Power tools (including cordless drills and staplers)
  • Various saws
  • Air nailers
  • Ladder use
  • Hand tool and miscellaneous tools
  • Safety around power tools

All Tool Training Workshops are OPTIONAL. They are ONE DAY and run from 8:30 AM – 4:15 PM at our Prefab Shop. Lunch, tools, and personal safety equipment is provided. There is a non-refundable $20 participation fee for the workshop that helps cover the basic costs.

PAINT WORKSHOP

These workshops provide a basic foundation for painting homes. They cover topics including:

  • Identifying and repairing dents, holes and imperfections prior to painting
  • Paint brush and paint roller techniques
  • Taping and cutting techniques
  • Ladder use and safety
  • Cleaning brushes and rollers
