Habitat’s Work Experience program allows you to help families in your community gain access to affordable home ownership while you learn transferable skills to strengthen your resume.
Work Experience Volunteers commit to 10 shifts over a 3-month time period at our build sites or in our ReStores. Upon completion you will receive a certificate to include in your resume. This certificate details the hours you volunteered, tasks completed, and includes comments about your work ethic, communication skills, and punctuality.
Construction. Volunteers work at one of our active build sites to construct affordable homes for local families in need. Learned skills may include: foundations, framing, insulation, drywall, building decks, finishing work, painting, and more.
ReStore. ReStore sell new and gently-used building materials and home improvement items that have been generously donated by the public. Work Experience at ReStore helps volunteers to strengthen the Habitat program while helping the environment by diverting items from landfills. Learned skills may include: visual merchandising, product knowledge, and customer service. There are four locations in Edmonton.
