Landscaping

Landscaping with Habitat is just plain fun! You’re out in the sunshine, using rakes, pushing wheelbarrows, laying sod, painting fences, watering grass, and digging holes. You experience the joy of watching yards come together for families in our community.

During 2018, landscaping will be at our Carter Place build site. Please click here to sign up at our Carter Place build site. Any volunteers who are present will have the option to join the landscaping group as one of the possible construction tasks for that day.

If you would ONLY like to do landscaping, please join our landscaping team. This will allow us to assign you to the landscaping group on the day of your shift. Contact Joanne at jdejong@hfh.org to get more information and to join the team.

Tasks may include:

  • Planting trees and shrubs
  • Installing and painting fences
  • Installing mulch
  • Watering or mowing grass
  • Laying sod
  • Light carpentry projects

Shifts run from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm and are available Tuesday to Saturday. Landscaping days depend on the weather, so please understand that we may need your help with alternative construction tasks if the weather is unsuitable for landscaping.

We ask that all landscaping volunteers bring their own work gloves, water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat. If you volunteer with our Landscaping Team for five shifts over the summer, you’ll receive a landscaping t-shirt!

*IMPORTANT* – landscaping is happening on an active construction site. All volunteers will be provided with the proper safety equipment for the site. Volunteers are not permitted on site in sleeveless shirts, open-toed footwear, SHORTS, capris, leggings, or dresses.
